Baby Elk – Evergreen Lake

It’s late May and the elk have just given birth to these baby elk in the past couple of days. There is a small island on Evergreen Lake where some of the cow elk like to give birth.  It is a very safe place and they have plenty of shade and protection from other wild life.  They will stay on this island until they are old enough to cross the water.  I just love that we caught the baby elk playing in the water. Usually they are laying down in the grass and are not very easy to see so this was a special occasion. I am so blessed that my children get to experience the birth of these new baby elk.
