While there are a variety of different elevations in Evergreen most people consider downtown Evergreen to be the best place to define the elevation from. The elevation of Evergreen Colorado is 7,220 feet and can range to over 9,000 feet in elevation depending on the location.
Evergreen is spread out from the borders of 14,260-foot Mount Evans on the West, to the edge of the high plains of Denver to the East. From its neighboring communities of Conifer – elevation 8,277 feet and Aspen Park on the South, to the residential communities of Genesee and Lookout Mountain on the North. Evergreen and the associated communities that make up the Evergreen area are cradled in the Rocky Mountains just 30 miles west of Denver.
Will I Get Altitude Sickness in Evergreen?
I can’t tell you for sure if you will experience altitude sickness or not visiting Evergreen. I moved here from Frisco, TX a Dallas suburb which is at sea level. I have never personally experienced any symptoms due to the elevation, but I have been effected aerobically when exercising which is totally normal. There is a period of acclimation to the elevation that is necessary for all who visit or live in Evergreen.
I have met with many people who are just visiting Evergreen and the vast majority of them never had any ill effects due to the elevation of Evergreen. Most likely you won’t have any problems but if you have a history of altitude sickness then you may need to take necessary precautions.
How to prevent altitude sickness when visiting Evergreen?
If you are prone to altitude sickness aka acute mountain sickness, and you are visiting the Denver area it may be best to first stay a day or two in Denver which has an elevation of 5,280. Be sure to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol. Once acclimated proceed to higher elevation.
What are symptoms of altitude sickness?

Altitude Sickness Prevention & Sickness Relief:
If you are planning a trip to Evergreen Colorado or anywhere in Colorado for that matter it may be best to be prepared in advance especially if you are prone to altitude sickness. One product that my wife swears by is Acli-Mate natural sports drinks. As a sports drink it contains electrolytes for hydration, Vitamin C, Rhodiola, and Schizandra for adrenal wellness and acclimatization support, and B-Vitamis for energy.
Start using Acli-Mate® Mountain Sport Drink three days prior to arrival at high elevation and continue for the duration of your stay. It is recommended you drink three servings daily before 7 pm for best results. Acli-Mate® Mountain Sport Drink is great for hydration, energy, and acclimatization in both kids and adults.

St. Anthony’s Health Clinic is the closest location for medical treatment but they don’t offer emergency care services. The next closest location will be Centura Health Emergency & Urgent Care Clinic Golden, Colorado. This location is about 18 miles from downtown Evergreen.
