So, you are thinking about moving to Evergreen Colorado and you want to know, is Evergreen Co a safe place to live or not. There are lots of online resources that can answer this for you from a statistical perspective, but I have lived here for 9 years and can tell you from first hand experience that Evergreen Co is a safe place to live.
I grew up in a small town in Texas, so moving to Evergreen Colorado as a small mountain town was very attractive to my wife and I as we felt it would be the perfect place to raise our family. Life moves at a little slower pace here, and I believe the people are more friendly as a result. Evergreen consists primarily of two demographics, families and empty nesters/retirees. Evergreen is not a community chock full of bars, liquor stores and late night entertainment venues. Evergreen is a completely different vibe than Denver Metro and big city life.
Evergreen Colorado is like living in a bubble. It has been a very safe place for my wife and I to raise our family. In my opinion crime in evergreen is crazy low.
I can tell you from personal experience that, I nor anyone in my family have been a victim of any crime while living in Evergreen. While I am not saying minor crimes don’t take place in Evergreen, they do. They are just not very common. When we talk to friends, crime is just not something that is a topic of conversation. The crimes that occur here may be an occasional car being broken into, petty theft, or minor vandalism. Property crime in Evergreen is 9.94 per 1,000 residents while the national average is 21. Colorado as a whole has a property crime level of 25.91 per 1,000 residents. Your chances of being a victim of property crime in Evergreen are 1 in 101 compared to all of Colorado which is 1 in 39. In my opinion property crime in Evergreen is crazy low.
Your chances of being a victim of a violent crime in Evergreen Colorado is also very low. Your chances are 1.18 per 1,000 people while the national median is 4 per 1,000 people. Evergreen residents have a 1 in 850 chance of being a victim of a violent crime compared to 1 in 263 in Colorado as a whole.
In 2020 when there were riots in many major cities, none of that was going on in Evergreen. There were no protests, nothing. Evergreen is not a highly politically charged town. People have their political preferences here just like other places, I just don’t see it manifest in any abnormal fashion outside of yard signs or maybe someone holding up a banner in downtown Evergreen from time to time to show their support for a political candidate. Even if residents don’t agree with a political outcome, I never see it evolve into any form of violence or vandalism.
Since Evergreen is an unincorporated city, they don’t have a designated police department. Evergreen is serviced by the Denver Sheriff department which is on-site in Evergreen. The police definitely have a presence here in Evergreen but they are not just sitting around setting up speed traps like you see in some communities.
When you compare Evergreen Colorado to other communities of similar population size, Evergreen has a crime rate that is considerably lower than the average. This means that for comparably sized cities all across America, Evergreen is actually safer than most based on FBI crime data sources.
