Evergreen Colorado Sculpture Walk

September 11, 2026

Art in Evergreen, Colorado, can be found in more places than galleries. Sculptures are displayed beside Evergreen Lake, along downtown sidewalks, in parks, and in other outdoor spaces throughout the community.

For more than 30 years, public sculpture has been part of the Evergreen landscape, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience art as part of everyday life. Today, Sculpture Evergreen continues that tradition through its permanent collection, annual Sculpture Showcase, and free guided sculpture tours.

Sculpture Walk Free Guide

If you would like to learn more about the sculptures you see around Evergreen, Center for the Arts Evergreen offers free guided sculpture tours on the first Saturday of each month at 10:30 AM.

Led by a trained docent, each tour explores a different area of Evergreen and introduces visitors to the sculptures, the artists who created them, and the stories behind the artwork.

Tour locations can vary, giving you an opportunity to discover different sculptures throughout the community.

For upcoming tour locations and information, visit the Center for the Arts Evergreen sculpture tour page.

How Did All These Sculptures Get Here?

There is a long history behind the public art you see throughout Evergreen.

What eventually became Sculpture Evergreen began in 1994 as Art for the Mountain Community, an all-volunteer nonprofit with a goal of bringing high-quality, enduring sculpture into public spaces throughout the mountain community.

Its first major project was Spirits of the Land by Madeline Wiener. The sculpture was commissioned for the Evergreen Lake House and installed in 1996.

The collection continued to grow, and over the years, more than 40 sculptures were added to Evergreen’s permanent collection.

In 1999, the organization introduced an annual Sculpture Walk featuring a rotating collection of artwork throughout Evergreen. Today, that program continues as the Sculpture Showcase.

After 28 years as an independent nonprofit, Sculpture Evergreen merged with Center for the Arts Evergreen in 2023. CAE now carries that legacy forward by collecting, displaying, and caring for sculpture in predominantly outdoor locations that remain freely accessible to the public seven days a week.

A Collection That Changes Every Year

One of the fun things about exploring Evergreen is noticing something new along a familiar walking route or drive.

Alongside Evergreen’s permanent sculpture collection, the annual Sculpture Showcase brings a new selection of artwork to the community each year.

Artists submit their work for consideration, and selected sculptures are loaned to Center for the Arts Evergreen for approximately one year. Participating artists receive an honorarium for sharing their work with the Evergreen community.

That means Evergreen itself becomes an ever-changing outdoor gallery.

Some sculptures remain in Evergreen for a year as part of the Showcase, while others may eventually be purchased and find permanent homes here or elsewhere. Each new Showcase gives residents and visitors another opportunity to discover artwork throughout town.

Yes, You Can Buy the Art!

See a Sculpture Showcase piece that you would love to make your own?

Sculpture Showcase artwork is available for purchase. Artists loan these pieces to Center for the Arts Evergreen with the hope that someone will connect with their work and give it a permanent home.

CAE receives a percentage of each sale, helping support the continuation of arts programming in the community.

Sculpture Showcase pieces are marked with a gold star on the sculpture map. To learn more about purchasing a sculpture, contact Center for the Arts Evergreen at 303-674-0056 or visit EvergreenArts.org.

Explore Evergreen's Public Sculpture

Whether you are visiting Evergreen for the first time or have lived here for years, the public sculptures throughout the community offer another way to experience the area.

You can discover sculptures on your own or join one of the free guided tours to learn more about the artwork and the artists behind it.

With more than 40 sculptures in the permanent collection and a new Sculpture Showcase each year, there is always an opportunity to discover something new.

Take a look around the next time you are walking or driving through Evergreen. You might come across a sculpture you have never noticed before.
